Clara loved Little India Bistro & Tandoor Kingsland
We’ve tried most Indian restaurants in Auckland but Little India definitely comes out on top - their tandoor is top notch, we always order the chicken tikka masala. Plus the staff are always super friendly. You won’t leave disappointed!
Curry out West
Chapati's is out West's Indian jewel. The curries are tasty, and as a big curry fan, the spices and tasts are quite distinct and delightful. On all occasions I've visited Chapati's we've shared our meal, which gives you the option of trying a range of different tastes and dishes if you're a bit of a stuck in the mud (like myself).
Staff were friendly and attentive but in no way intrusive. Although on one particular night it was very busy, we were not rushed at all by the staff.
The restaurant is very pleasant, and fairly typical of Indian restaurants with Indian artwork dotted around the restaurant, and the ambience was created with the dim lighting.
All in all an enjoyable and well priced curry experience.
Rebecca loved Oh Calcutta Indian Restaurant
I love me some good Indian food! Rich, spicy and delicious, Oh Calcutta is the best of the best. Everyone who works there is Indian and you feel like you’re getting the real deal with the food. Plus, the naan bread is amazing - not soggy and doughy like some other places in town!
kate loved Mumbai Chaat
This is the best Indian in Sandringham, if not Auckland. The family uses their recipes that have been cooked by their mother for years and she has perfected them! They serve a range of meals and snacks cooked with just enough spice and their meals are not too oily or salty. They also use canola oil when lots of other restaurants in the area don't. Try their maharajah thai or chaat platters if you want to try everything. The place is very clean - I went there regularly when I was pregnant. The service is very friendly and fast. If you don't know what things are on the menu they have a booklet with descriptions of each dish.
Angela loved Paradise Indian Food
It is always a good sign to see queues of people waiting outside a place. Paradise offers great Indian food and has a fun vibrant atmosphere while you wait for your takeaways. Looking forward to dining in!
Toyah loved Rasoi Vegetarian Restaurant
Consistency is something I rate highly when it comes to food, especially the cheap and cheerful kind. Rasoi is consistently good, with a changing selection of tasty vegetarian and vegan curries, roti rolls and samosas. As far as value for money goes, this place is tops.
Are you up to the hottest curry challenge?
Simla Restaurant has a point of difference amongst the plethora of Indian restaurants in the Mt Eden Village Strip - the hottest curry challenge! If you succeed in eating their hottest curry you will win a tee shirt.
Vindaloo vindaloo vindaloo vindaloo na na!!!
After moving from the UK, it took a while to find a good Indian but I am so, so glad that I found Namaste Express because the vindaloo is amazeballs! You can tell with every mouthful that the ingredients are perfectly fresh and it means that every curry always tastes incredible. The additional poppadoms and salad that come with the curry are also a bonus!
Cole loved Satya South Indian Restaurant Karangahape Road
They have menu items here that you won’t find on most Indian restaurants in New Zealand. Sure they have the butter chickens and mango curries to satisfy the unadventurous, but they also have the amazing Gongura curries and much more. Entrees galore and all traditional, authentic and delicious.
Kylie loved Tiffin Indian Cuisine
I've loved it before but I'll keep on loving Tiffin because foodie friends in the know reckon this is THE place of the moment for Indian food, regardless of whether you are eating in or taking away. Buttery balls of puffed goodness, the naan is the best and fluffiest in all of Auckland. Tiffin is North Indian street food and the chefs here truly know how to create incredibly, authentic flavours. If you haven't tried it yet and you love Indian food, you haven't lived. Full stop.
