Excellent Indian Restaurants In New Zealand

Full of flavour and packing a punch, rogan josh is done well at many Indian restaurants in New Zealand.

There's nothing better than celebrating with friends and family and enjoying a delicious Indian meal. Whether it's North Indian or South Indian cuisine that takes your fancy, there are so many cool little local places around New Zealand serving up rogan josh, butter chicken, roti and palak paneer that are the definition of a "mouth-party". Of course, every palette is different - some of us like it fiery hot, others meek and mild but an excellent Indian restaurant will always serve up a meal that balances spices to perfection. India Today is like the mac daddy of all Indian restaurants, I haven’t met one person who dislikes the food or the décor. The spice factor is present so if you really want to turn up the heat order a hot beef Vindaloo! Delivery is an option here so order to your heart’s content and don’t bother getting out of your PJ’s!

Paradise do the best biryani in the city by a country mile. The team I work with bring it in for lunch quite often and it is superb. I've tried biryani at every other Indian takeaway place I have been and nothing compares to Paradise. Great value, amazing food!

If you're looking for Indian food this winter, then the restaurant on everyone's lips is Freiya's Authentic Indian. The food here is fresh and flippin' tasty. Enjoy your meal in or to go - either way, you'll get it fast so you can be out the door in no time!

I've loved it before but I'll keep on loving Tiffin because foodie friends in the know reckon this is THE place of the moment for Indian food, regardless of whether you are eating in or taking away. Buttery balls of puffed goodness, the naan is the best and fluffiest in all of Auckland. Tiffin is North Indian street food and the chefs here truly know how to create incredibly, authentic flavours. If you haven't tried it yet and you love Indian food, you haven't lived. Full stop.

This is has been our local Indian restaurant for years, and we are die hard Chapati fans.  Jay and his crew are so hospitable and attentive, and they literally have the best Butter Chicken I have ever had!!  

I love Tulsi this is my favourite place to get a great butter chicken. They do the perfect spice mix of medium/mild for my rather sensitive taste buds.Yum when is takeaway night! There are great prices for takeaway options and you can make orders by text.

Arguably the best Indian in town. Delivered straight to your door anywhere in Christchurch, Himalayas is delicious. Don’t forget to order the onion bhaji as a starter

Little India on Cuba Mall offers excellent and fairly reasonably priced Indian food for BYO groups big and small. Its close proximity to Matterhorn and Mighty Mighty means you’re on the doorstep of Wellington’s best nightlife, too.

Babas curry cafe just off Puriri Road in Whenuapai serves up the meanest Indian feed in West Auckland - the service is awesome to with all the waiters and servers being super friendly. You can't miss the place driving past as its painted bright yellow and stands out like crazy. If you're in the area, snug up on the couch and give them a ring - they'll deliver straight to your door - Something I've done at least a dozen times as it's so easy. My favourite is their butter chicken, which has more taste than any I've ever tried, and their garlic naan (which I could easily smash back 3 or 4 of with a curry as they're so good). If you're in Greenhithe, Whenuapai, Herald Island or Hobsonville or Massey East give Babas a ring and get delicious, authentic Indian delivered straight to your door. If not Babas is well worth the long drive out west for some delightful curry deliciousness.
