Got an Auckland op shop in your suburb that you love? Why not share a recommendation on Localist so other locals can discover it too. Happy shopping!

Madeline loved Vixen Vintage Boutique

Vixen boutique is easy to navigate yourself around and is sure to have something you will love. Sequins and glitter will lure you in to this haven of vintage clothing. Once inside, the range of old band T-shirts and delicate vintage dresses will have you drooling. The staff at the Vixen Boutique are extremely knowledgable and friendly. These vintage pieces are well looked after so can sometimes be on the pricey side, but it's always worth it when you find a one-of-a-kind piece you love!

Angela loved Abbey Antiques

If you’re after a vintage piece Abbey Antiques in Remuera might just have a ring you’ll fall in love with. They have a great selection of vintage and period pieces. This is the kind of place you could find a real bargain and something that will appreciate in value. A must see for the thrifty vintage bride to be.

Sam loved The Recycle Boutique (2005) Ltd - Newmarket

Great place for unique secondhand clothing - you can get designer clothes at a fraction of the price.

Great shopping spree without breaking the bank :)

Kylie loved Coucou

I've only recently discovered this great vintage store since moving to work in the Britomart precinct. Coucou is full of handpicked, one-off pieces and all those accessories you've loved since you were a little girl. It's a well-curated collection that makes for a successful secondhand shopping mission on your lunch break.

Meryl loved Hard to Find Books

...their extensive collection and just the place itself... so old & cosy... just perfect to get lost in...

Kerri loved Super Trash

Super Trash is an absolutely ridiculous store. I love it. It sort of feels like it’s your grumpy great-uncle’s attic, and you’re allowed to look through it but only if you don’t mess anything up. There’s a lot of trash, if we’re being honest, but there’s also a lot of treasure and it’s so much fun to wander around and pick through the piles- the place is just jam-packed with interesting bits and bobs, and if you’re looking for a weird and unique gift but don’t know what, this is a good place to find it. The owner/operator is a wee bit grouchy but you’ll leave with a bargain.

Evelyn loved Just Plane Interesting Antiques and Curios

If you have a person who is particularly hard to buy a gift for then make the trek out this local gem full of secondhand Kiwi treasures. From props that once graced the Xena: Warrior Princess set to a backroom full of Crown Lynn pottery and old vinyl classics, this store is packed to the brim with curios for the curious. I can spend hours in the little nooks and crannies of Just Plane Interesting because there are not one, but two shops! If you want to make a day of it, head to the Oratia Farmers Market and pop into the smaller shop that's housed on the vineyards grounds before crossing the road and spending a whole lot more time in the big Daddy of this awesome place. Destination shopping at its best!

Kylie loved SaveMart New Lynn

My friends and I like to play dress ups - yep, I’m a big kid, I know. And when it comes time to create a new outfit the first place I hit up is SaveMart in New Lynn. It’s in my west Auckland hood so is just a stone’s throw from where I live but, no matter how many times I visit, I always manage to score a whole heap of new treasures for my wardrobe. My husband’s recent purchase of a corduroy suit and matching skinny for just $25 for the lot was a super steal.

Kylie loved Rummage Matakana

Rummage on the Matakana Rd is a delightful collection of colourful curios. I love stopping on my way up to Pakiri Beach for a "rummage" through their ever-changing collection of homewares and kitchen bits and pieces. Well worth a shopping stop on any Matakana Coast journey.

Angela loved Tango

If you wanted to check out a vintage option try Tango. Although there is no guarantee you’ll find something to fit it is definitetly worth trying. I fell in love with a 1930’s dress that was a bit too small. However I managed to get some gorgeous accessories that I love and wore on the day. Driss, the owner of Tango, has an incredible eye and won’t let you leave the store with anything that you don’t look amazing in. He styled my mum for my wedding too. She looked gorgeous and was really happy in her kimono jacket and pearls.
