Krystal loved Rainbow's End
School holidays are coming up and there's one place I like to take my friends' kids for a blast of fun. Rainbow's End is an awesome way to make school holidays more memorable with lots of exciting rides for the most intrepid and things to do for kids that will make them laugh, giggle and confirm that this school holiday experience is "the best yet". Thanks Rainbow's End!
Sharon loved Crystal Mountain
I love the peace and quiet of looking around all of the Crystals and gems and sitting down watching the peacocks and other animals they have there. The place is very enjoyable and in a nice setting. Even if it's raining you can sit inside and enjoy a nice coffee and something to eat under cover. Great places to take children as they can go through to the farm they have for children to see and touch the animals.
Kylie loved Gloputt Mini Golf
This is an awesome night out for teenagers and an activity kids will love. Gloputt Mini Golf is so much fun, no matter what age you are because you will whoop and holla your way around the glow-in-the-dark course. TIP: Wear something bright white or some UV paint so that you light up like a disco ball, making the whole experience all the more enjoyable. And you don't need to worry about your golf swing. This is all about putting your way to a better place.
Paint The Earth, Albany
Just had the best morning with my 8-year old. So many options for painting, friendliest staff, lovely spot. We'll be back!
Johnny loved Clip 'n' Climb
You don’t have to be a little one to be challenged and have a great time at Clip ‘n’ Climb. Once you’ve learned the ropes and find yourself trying to scale the deceptively high rock walls and ascending ring of posts you’ll know what I mean! It’s the perfect place to take the kids too, with each challenge giving them a fantastic boost of confidence - and ask about having their next birthday party there - you’ll leave with tired children and no mess to tidy. Perfect.
Piha Beach, Auckland
Piha is the epitome of West Coast beaches and truly a breathtaking embodiment to New Zealand's natural beauty. Even if the water is too cold in winter, you can experience a nature hike in the surrounding bush to a hidden waterfall or take a climb up the legendary Lion's Rock. Just remember to breathe.
Evelyn loved Chocolate Boutique Cafe
If you haven't tried the Chocolate Boutique's hot chocolate you really are missing out, it's by far the most divine sweet drink in Auckland and its richness and amazing flavours make it a worthy dessert in its own right. Although that's not all on offer at this Parnell institution, which serves delicious handmade chocolates in so many flavours to list them all would make this the biggest post on Localist. Not to mention tasty sundaes and desserts which are available until late, as the cafe is open until 10pm each day, which makes this the perfect place to get an after dinner treat.
Great location and interesting displays
Friendly and supportive of all artists, awesome old building - the grounds are fab - holiday programmes fro kids and good events held regularly - great cafe too!
Suzanne loved Sonshine Ranch Outdoor Adventure Centre
Well priced horse riding camp in the Auckland region. It is a great place for kids to learn to ride and immerse themselves in thing equestrian and other outdoor activities. There is bible study/morals training every day but it is not over the top. The staff are very nice and the kids liked the food. The older kids help the younger ones.
Soyung loved The Mind Lab
These school holidays, switch off the TV and computer games and take the kids to The Mind Lab for fun, interactive programmes in topics like Movie Creation, Animation and Artistic Invention. Kids as young as 7 years old can participate in learning, experiencing and creating with the latest technology available. If only regular school was this fun!
