Clooney, Auckland
Clooney has an excellent restaurant and a great cocktail bar. If you don’t feel like the degustation but you’d like a bit of luxury pop in for a cocktail or 2. The bar staff are excellent and the cocktail list is extensive and everything I’ve tried was delicious. A stand out cocktail was a a champage one with a whipped lemon merinque egg white topping that was as much a dessert as a cocktail.
The Whiskey, Auckland
The best place in town for a whiskey sour. They are consistently great and are finished off with a maraschino cherry which I love! Warning - it is impossible to only have one….
Rain Bar & Restaurant, Papamoa
Absolutely love the vibe at Rain. The decor is awesome... as are the amazing drinks! The staff are friendly and super-helpful when it comes to selecting the right ale or a deliciously indulgent cocktail. If you're in Papamoa, this place is a must-visit!
Easy Tiger Cocktail Bar, Hamilton
Coke bottle cocktail is THE best
Nitro Cocktail Bar, Hamilton
I don’t go out very often but if I have mates in town then I like to take them to Nitro. It’s a cocktail bar in town. They use liquid nitrogen in their cocktails and they are really good. It’s only once in a blue moon that I go out for a drink but this is the spot I love.
Monica Loves, Napier
The bar affiliated to Mister D and alluring the cool crowd is the fun place to hang out between Thursday and Sunday for sophisticated snacks, worldly wines, craft beers and perfectly executed cocktails performed with loads of personality. Discreetly housed down a laneway off in the historic precinct.
Our Place, New Plymouth
This bar is great for a bunch of friends catching up as well as celebrating a special night such as Valentine's at an intimate table for two. Cocktails are a specialty, ask and you shall receive; the staff are very talented and could make any drink you throw their way.
Chow Tory, Wellington
Superb! I can never get enough of Chow Tory! Small plates of delectable morsels to taste and share among friends. The service is fantastic and if the food isn't enough...their amazing cocktails will seal the deal (try their famous Rosebud). Highly recommend you try Chow! #shoutme
Cocktail and Bar Lounge, Wellington
You’ll have to forgive me here for my hazy recollection of my night at Alice, but I’m sure I won’t be alone in having indulged in one too many teapots here. As so many of the funkiest bars here are, Alice is hidden away down a nondescript alley, in this case Forresters Lane. A little taste of old Blighty, Alice has a quaint, English, Alice in Wonderland theme, with matching cocktails to boot. The Long Island Ice Tea looks so inoffensive and cute in that little teapot and served on a doily, but really should come with a disclaimer; massive hangover ahead.
King of Snake, Christchurch
Best cocktails - yum
Carousel, Christchurch
This sophisticated cocktail bar is a favourite of mine for their tasty cocktails, low seating and the place isn’t ever packed so you get to chat to your friends whilst listening to the live music. It’s a very very nice place to spend a Saturday night.
Toast Bar, Dunedin
This place is my number one bar in Otago because of their epic cocktails. Simple! The staff are always up for a good chat and the atmosphere is always great because the place is always going off. It’s a wicked bar!
