We're a country known for our spectacular landscapes, stunning mountain vistas and pristine lakes and rivers. Indeed, when looking for accommodation all over New Zealand, travellers are able to find their own little slice of natural paradise. And if luxury travel is your thing, there's so many amazing places to stay in New Zealand. Whether you want to experience the beauty of Huka Lodge in Taupo, located next to the world famous Huka Falls, or prefer the rolling green golf course and incredible spa facilities available at Kauri Cliffs in Northland's stunning Matauri Bay, there's luxury lodges everywhere to lay your head. That's why we've scouted out the 10 of the most amazing accommodation hot spots in New Zealand. Even if you can't get there, these spots are so lust-worthy, you can enjoy travelling from your chair.

Huka Lodge, Taupo

If you are asked to name the most luxurious lodges in New Zealand then Huka Lodge will be right near the top of that list. Located along the burbling shoreline of the Waikato River, and just upstream from the almighty Huka Falls, this is the place to go to be pampered. When you're staying there you can choose to dine in over 20 sublime indoor and outdoor private dining areas for the ultimate romantic setting.

Treetops Luxury Accommodation, Rotorua

Staying at Treetops Lodge is like entering another world. Situated in thick forest and thermal activity you couldn’t get a better location. You can choose to stay in the main lodge, architecturally-designed to reflect a historical settlers lodge, or stay at one of the secluded retreat villas. You won’t be disappointed with your stay here, such a great place.

Peppers On The Point, Lake Rotorua

Peppers is wonderful views and location offering top accommodation. Peppers is luxury accommodation. Recommend the treat!

Kauri Cliffs Lodge & Golf Course, Matauri Bay

There’s no way around it - Kauri Cliffs is FANCY. This colonial-style lodge is lavished in luxury and appears to be something out of an old-fashioned romance novel. While it’s particularly suited to those who’d like to play a round of golf on the world-class course their are plenty of leisure activities for non-golf playing love birds. Simply relish the chance to be alone in their luxury suites or indulge in fine cuisine in their restaurant. A trip to Kauri Cliffs is sure to get you in the good books for a very long time.

Split Apple Retreat, Abel Tasman National Park

For one of the best wellness retreats in New Zealand look no further than the divine Split Apple Retreat, nestled between two beaches in the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park in Nelson. Every morning you wake, you look out over the incredibly old and ancient Split Apple Rock and that feeling alone helps ground you to the earth. There's amazing places to meditate and you are fed a nutrient-dense, healthy diet to help get your body and mind back on track.

Wharekauhau Country Estate, Featherston

For a very special occasion, stay in style at this opulent lodge like the rich and famous, including Kate and Wills - the young royal couple stayed here on their New Zealand visit.

Hapuku Lodge and Treehouses, Kaikoura

I love eco travelling and my husband and I had the pleasure of staying in one of the tree houses at Hapuku Lodge during our honeymoon. Set just back off the beach and below the mountain ranges in Kaikoura, you feel like you are on top of the world when you wake up here. Everything about Hapuku Lodge is perfectly appointed, especially the incredible five-star dining experience they roll out every night in their world-class restaurant. This is one of the most unique places to stay in New Zealand and, if like me you love nature, I highly recommend it as a destination to visit.

Blanket Bay Lodge, Queenstown

If you love fishing and horse-riding, this boutique lodge, near some of the most famous fly-fishing rivers in New Zealand, is a must-visit. Alternatively if heli-skiing or hiking the Great Walks known as the Routeburn and Milford Tracks are more your thing then Blanket Bay's five-bedroom, three dining room lodge in Glenorchy needs to go onto your bucket list. It is known as New Zealand's best alpine escape because of the spectacular surroundings in which it exists. It's also where some of the most famous people in the world stay when they come to Queenstown. Sir Ian McKellen calls it "paradise on earth".

Matakauri Lodge, Queenstown

Queenstown's exclusive lodge resort, this high end accommodation has excellent views of the Southern Alps and low lying lakes. Although I can't afford to stay here, it's definitely a place I would stay if I could!!

Fiordland Lodge, Fiordland

If you want to experience the very best of Fiordland National Park, splashing out on a few nights at Fiordland Lodge is well worth the investment. Located in one of the most pristine environments in New Zealand, the lodge offers incredible views of the jaw-droppingly stunning Lake Te Anau and through to the park itself. It's worth staying for at least two nights so you can enjoy a scenic trip into Milford Sound and marvel at Milford Peak. If you love nature, bird-life, fishing and the great outdoors, this spot is for you.
