Krystal loved Stardome Observatory & Planetarium

Such an amazing experience! I loved learning about all the constellations while sitting back in super comfy recliner chairs. The gift shop was filled with great stuff to buy for adults and kids, including telescopes. Even picked up a great Father's Day present for dad and was told that Stardome Observatory & Planetarium will be holding special over Father's day where dad's get in for free! Perfect!

The Fudge Cottage Christchurch

Fudge, glorious fudge! Fudge Cottage has loads of great fudge ideas for Dad. Distinguished fudge baskets comprise two full layers of fudge and chocolate for dad’s enjoyment and pleasure. Alternatively, there's the Baileys Log or fudge hearts handwritten with ‘Best Dad’ to tickle his taste buds and warm his heart. Using natural ingredients and the only best local milk and cream, you’re dad will be very, very happy with his deliciously sweet treats.

McCashin's Brewery & Malthouse

Treat Dad to a brewery tour and tasting session at McCashin’s in Stoke and he’ll be a happy chap. The tour is an insight into the Craft Beer Revolution, and is sure to work up a thirst for a tasty brew afterwards.

Unity Books Wellington

Unity Books’ curation is so impeccable that you can count on the fact that if they’ve got it in stock it’s a bloody good read. Whenever it’s my dad’s birthday, Christmas or Father’s Day, my sister and I hit up Unity Books’ sports section and each get a different book on cricket. Easy.

Dome Cinema

Love Dad and take him to the 6pm Father’s Day Special at The Dome Cinema in the elegant Poverty Bay Club on Sunday. This charming late nineteenth century space is showing 20,000 Days On Earth and it comes with free fudge and kisses for dad. Settle in on the bean bags or couch with a drink, pizza and some scrummy ice cream. The film rejoices in the life of musician Nick Cave and examines the transformative power of the creative spirit.

The Croucher Brewing Company

Almost every Dad loves a nice, cool beer. So why not head down to The Croucher Brewing Company and pick him up a selection of locally-made, boutique beer? You’ll make his day… and put him in a good mood, which is good for all involved. If you haven’t heard of Crouchers then you better educate yourself… they’re a Rotorua-based craft brewery started by a couple of mates who wanted to escape the corporate rat-race. Pop in and support them!

Aerius Helicopters Ltd

What better way to remind Dad of how amazing the Bay of Plenty region is, than to show him the beauty from the air. These guys offer scenic flights across the Bay, Rotorua and Coromandel, departing from Tauranga Airport or Kiwi 360 in Te Puke. Great for Dads who are in need of a new experience.

Waikato Bow Hunter

If you’ve got a Dad who fancies himself as a bit of a survivor, let him try his hand at bow hunting. You can book a guided half or full day of archery, crossing beautiful scenery to hunt goat or turkey. Learn how to effectively use a cross bow, stalk and shoot your prey.

Ruby Red Cafe

A sweet addition to Mangere Bridge Village, Ruby Red is a great brunch spot with something to please everyone, including the little ones, which makes it perfect for dads with young kids. Its interior is a cute throwback to old-school NZ with wooden seats and sixties style crockery among its vintage inspired features. The food is fresh, good quality and reasonably priced with mince on toast a favourite chased with stellar coffee. A slice or cake from the cabinet is a must too.

Captain Bucko

To thoroughly spoil Dad, send him out on a fishing trip with the highly experienced, friendly and funny Captain Bucko, who has been in business for more than 25 years. Setting off from the Bay of Islands, charter options start at $98pp for four hours, with a decent catch and a good feed pretty much guaranteed! As Bucko himself says: "Fast boat, more fishing." This is a shared charter, so it would be super-fun to pitch in as family for dad’s ticket and pay your own way to enjoy some awesome quality time together.
