Plus, if you have a favourite new local in Auckland, why not share your recommendation on its Localist listing so other locals can discover it too?

Grant loved Kiss kiss

The L'Oeuf lads do it again. Kiss Kiss is a beauty. What a treat. Just off the main drag of Dominion Road on Rocklands Ave. Unmissable Thai infused spot with it's row of bright covered tables outside and drenched in the morning sun . The menu is brunch/day menu is simple yet covers every palette and whim. The coffee- devine as always. The pastries are edible art and taste even better. I pashed up a charcoal activated tart. Sounded gimmicky but were next level treats. I mained on the Thai fishcakes with the srirachi hollandaise, watercress and bits. An awesome panoply of tastes and colours, which is often the case with any creation they have on their menus. My fellow diner had the pork n beans with fried egg and toast. Sensational. Reasonably priced, fun, groovy beats, lovely staff. Loved it! Heading back for dinner. The menu looks incredible and cocktail list is viewed through a view-master.

Kylie loved Woodside Cafe

If you're gluten-free, Birkenhead's Woodside Cafe is the spot for you. Yep, this is the first Auckland cafe to dedicate itself to a "free" menu with excellent options for those who suffer from allergies and food intolerances. I'm often gluten-free by choice (because it just doesn't make me feel good) so feel very good about this little hot spot on the North Shore opening up.

Kylie loved Oaken

I'm stoked that Oaken has moved in just a few doors down from work and rather than offering up the usual smoothies is instead making an art of the refreshing Indian drink known as lassis. It's this kind of fresh take that's Oaken's signature. Set to become an Auckland cafe hot spot, this Britomart cafe-by-day, wine-bar-by-night is also a great spot to grab a quick, healthy lunch. Their wild vension jaffle was a hearty lunch for just $10.

Kylie loved Homestead

What Ceremony has done for Grafton Homestead is already doing for Hillsborough. With the same team of Connor Nestor and Charles Williams - responsible for creating Ceremony's buzz in Grafton - working alongside passionate and clever local food writer Sam Mannering, the trio are committed to breathing a different kind of life into the beautiful art gallery space at Pah Homestead in the form of this much-talked about Auckland cafe. Known by its local owners as "the house on the hill", this is the place to go for seriously good sweet, savoury or vege crumpets.

Kylie loved Hello Friends + Allies

If you want to eat the best doughnuts in Auckland, go no further than this awesome local establishment created with love by Fran and husband Aaron. These passionate local foodies started the sensational Avondale cafe Salvation Kitchen then moved on to have an equally glorious reign in Henderson at Little Sister Cafe. Fran's legendary doughnut recipe from her Italian heritage is a feature at Hello Friends + Allies and everything here is local from the coffee to the art. Just awesome!

Kylie loved Sitka

Surf culture is well and truly back on Ponsonby Road and Sitka's seriously cool new look is well in keeping with having a now-permanent home on Auckland's most stylish strip. I love the fact that Andy and his crew are all about sustainability and community. This is the place to go to buy a wetsuit that ain't gonna hurt the environment or to get locally shaped surfboards and even sunglasses with wood frames. For conscious consumers, it's a must to check out.

Kylie loved Coast Cakes

A great selection of cupcakes at really good prices. A great gift idea for Mother's Day or for a children's birthday party.

Alan loved The Governor

Great Food. Great Service. Recently remodeled it appeared since last time we were in Auckland. Menu choice provided a varied selection of food and it tasted great. And most importantly the staff selection were of very good looks ! We will be back next time in Auckland. Alan & Philip. Melbourne.

Kylie loved The Raw Kitchen

Love the fact that this perennial Ponsonby fave has popped up as a second hot spot in Newmarket. When I'm keen on a healthy brekkie with bite, I like to pop in to see Olivia and her team. It's the kind of place where not only does the food taste great and is good for you... but it also just makes you feel happy.

Krystal loved The Lab Eatery

I love this new eatery in Takapuna. I had breakfast here last week and the scrambled eggs were delicious. Their coffee was on point and served in a cool glass mug as was the water served in beakers. Love that they have carried on the 'lab' theme from the previous tenant, Auckland Labratories.
