There's nothing more tasty than indulging in a delicious, nourishing curry. Yummo!

Variety is the spice of life, and whether you like your curry hot or Kiwi-mild, these killer Indian restaurants are plenty spice-y and loved by locals.

Curry out West

Chapati's is out West's Indian jewel. The curries are tasty, and as a big curry fan, the spices and tasts are quite distinct and delightful. On all occasions I've visited Chapati's we've shared our meal, which gives you the option of trying a range of different tastes and dishes if you're a bit of a stuck in the mud (like myself).

Staff were friendly and attentive but in no way intrusive. Although on one particular night it was very busy, we were not rushed at all by the staff.

The restaurant is very pleasant, and fairly typical of Indian restaurants with Indian artwork dotted around the restaurant, and the ambience was created with the dim lighting.

All in all an enjoyable and well priced curry experience.

Vindaloo vindaloo vindaloo vindaloo na na!!!

After moving from the UK, it took a while to find a good Indian but I am so, so glad that I found Namaste Express because the vindaloo is amazeballs! You can tell with every mouthful that the ingredients are perfectly fresh and it means that every curry always tastes incredible. The additional poppadoms and salad that come with the curry are also a bonus!

Tiffin Indian Cuisine, Kingsland, Auckland

I've loved it before but I'll keep on loving Tiffin because foodie friends in the know reckon this is THE place of the moment for Indian food, regardless of whether you are eating in or taking away. Buttery balls of puffed goodness, the naan is the best and fluffiest in all of Auckland. Tiffin is North Indian street food and the chefs here truly know how to create incredibly, authentic flavours. If you haven't tried it yet and you love Indian food, you haven't lived. Full stop.

Best Indian restaurant in Auckland

I suspect the secret is in their great tandoor, as you won't get better chicken tikka anywhere else in Auckland - and we've tried many others. The staff are always friendly as well which is a plus, and they even have their own especially brewed beer - Monsoon. A delicious non-alcoholic option is their mango lassi, especially if you accidentally order over your spiciness tolerance level! If you're keen to try a vegetarian dish, I highly recommend the Malai Kofta - great flavours. Also, a great place to take nut allergy sufferers, as they can make pretty much any dish nut-free. And make sure you order at least one of the chicken tikka dishes, you won't regret it!

Best Indian Food in NZ Hands Down

I haven't found a better place in NZ to have Indian, the food is always cooked to perfection and not too sweet like many of the curries found elsewhere. The naan is always amazing.

A taste of Mumbai.

I’m a big fan of vegetarian Indian food and when someone told me to check out Mumbai Chaat in Blockhouse Bay I jumped at the idea. I ordered a South Indian comba and some samosas. What arrived was some seriously fresh and flavour filled food. I had a mango lassi on the side which was also great. The service was friendly and the manager (?) took his time explaining each dish in detail. Recommended.

Great Indian Local

Satya has a unique spin on Indian curries. They are of South Indian origin and many are spiked with ginger and tamarind. There is a large vegetarian menu and many unusual entrees to choose from such as the masala dosas and uthappam. A must have dish is the dahi puri which I like to call ‘Indian nachos’ - they are small papadams with a potato topping, a tangy tamarind sauce and yoghurt. The palakura cheese curry is also a crowd pleaser and the dal makhani will have you going back for seconds.

Bollidinner

Came here last night after hearing great things about it, especially the $10 Mon - Wed mains! Got a vegetarian curry - very spicy! - quite tingly but delicious. Got to sample a bit of everyone else's curry too, the Saagwalla was good with both beef and chicken. Great garlic naan. Nice seating. Superb service. Recommend for Indian glamour!

Toyah loved Rasoi Vegetarian Restaurant

Consistency is something I rate highly when it comes to food, especially the cheap and cheerful kind. Rasoi is consistently good, with a changing selection of tasty vegetarian and vegan curries, roti rolls and samosas. As far as value for money goes, this place is tops.

Are you up to the hottest curry challenge?

Simla Restaurant has a point of difference amongst the plethora of Indian restaurants in the Mt Eden Village Strip - the hottest curry challenge! If you succeed in eating their hottest curry you will win a tee shirt.
